    Thanks, this thread really saved me. I was able to get the keys working again by pulling the switch and pressing the unlock button a bunch of times. It took a few tries and I don't remember the exact sequence, it's working now and my mechanic said it all checks out *fingers crossed*

    99% of time a poorly charged battery causes this. It happened to me. I looked at fitting a bypass switch but realized the car had not been driven for over a month. Charged the battery did the key in key out thing from the video, and off it went no problem. Been starting well ever since and i run the car once a week to keep battery charged.

    Hi!! I connected wires to spade connectors. Do I simply remove fuse and plug in my wires with spades?? And do I leave switch in "ON" position to start??

  • @NickHarman
    @NickHarman 2 года назад

    It can be a problem on SAABs , had it myself, but battery or fuse pull will sort it out. One day it may not work though and then it's CIM replacement time, which needn't be too expensive and can even be done at home if you can get hold of a Tec2

    • @elbmensch
      @elbmensch 10 месяцев назад

      No, never! To change CIM, you need a online-security clearance from the manufacturer. Car is asking multiple times during the process, to make sure, you are legit.

    No need to add a switch, just take your battery leads off and leave it for 5 to 10 mins, the car will then reset when the leads are placed back on the battery...then just get in and drive off! 🤷‍♂️

      Didnt say it wouldnt work. Once the module goes altogether using your method the owner would have to disconnect battery and wait 10 mins everytime they want to start the car. A more convenient way is to pull the fuse on passenger side fuse box an even more convenient way is to fit a switch so you dont even have to get out car .👍

    A friend had a slightly older model SAAB and this worked for him. In the owners manual there was an image and a table near the back that described all of the fuses. The fuse will be a 5 amp that says something about the ignition/steering column lock. FYI for us, reseating the fuse fixed the problem permanently (so far for a week or so). Also I was able to leave the fuse removal too clipped to the correct fuse and put the cover back on in case he has to do it later. Thanks alot!

    Hi everyone this shit did not work on mine, what actually worked was to disconnect the battery, wait 3-4 min and connect it again, than you should be able to start your car and drive, make sure to drive 10-20 min, if you experience the same problem than try again a couple of times and than it should work.

    Reset the position 2, 5 amp fuse in the driver side dash fuse box, key fob works, engine starts. Interim of an hour come back to locked car, key fob won't work. The fuse reset sets the CIM to true, and then after time elapse returns to false? Thoughts?

    • @mrmarcd5100
      @mrmarcd5100 6 лет назад

      Hi scott yes if the cim is faulty it will keep failing and you will have to keep pulling the fuse. This is why i fitted a switch that makes it easier to flip the fuse .

    • @mrmarcd5100

      take out the fuse from the fuse box, make a wire loop with a switch and a fuse in it then plug the loop into where you took the fuse out the box. all it does is allow you to turn power on and off to that fuse.

      We try today and don’t work! All we do was to put a on and off switch ... one question you should have voltage in the fuse at all times? Just too let you know the symptoms are identical of your video! Including the year off the car! And the same message steering lock malfunction! If you remember something can help with this situation I will appreciate! Thank you in advance! Guy!

    • @mrmarcd5100

      the fuse will be the same voltage as the one you take out of the fuse box. have you tried resetting the module by taking fuse out and putting itback in first to see if it resets.

    You, good sir, are a genius! May glad tidings come your way because you have made my day! I can't wait to tackle this problem on our lovely 06 9-3 that annoyingly just won't allow the key to turn. In addition to its other annoying as hell problems. As I understand it, I just need to rig a switch to de-energize that particular fused line of elec current then re-energize it, and bloody all should go bloody well!! [Laughing manically]

    Looking to buy the switch on Amazon now. Can you tell me how you wired it to fuse? Or used a Fuse Splitter of some sort? Can you help me with parts please. This will work for my 9-3 Aero 2004.

    • @marcdobson1387
      @marcdobson1387 6 лет назад

      TheMainSilverSultan hi tbh you can get all parts from Halfords. Any switch will do, attach a wire to the switch add a small space connector to other end. Add a second wire to other side of switch attach fuse in fuse holder to wire, add 3rd wire to fuse holder and add small space connector to end of wire. Plug both spade connectors into fusebox socket makesure they not touching. You could get rid the spade connectors and wire the wires into the back of the fuse box.
